The Saïd Business School frames itself as a “world-class business school, embedded in a world-class university, tackling world-scale problems.” On October 19 the School demonstrated this by hosting an event launching the publication of Global Business authored by J. R. Klein and Mahesh Joshi by Oxford University Press.
Dr Andrew White, Associate Dean for Executive Education, opened the event with a welcome and recognition of the School’s Oxford Advanced Management and Leadership Programme (OAMLP) Director, Dr Lalit Johri, on achieving the rank of number one in the world for Executive Education programs. He noted that the authors of Global Business are both alumni of the program.

The book tackles the discussion of the impact of globalization drawing on conversations with academics, practitioners, and practical thinkers around the world. The concepts are timely with topics being well written in a readable style. It is a balanced mix of academic thinking and practical experience at a time when questions on globalisation are being raised at the highest levels.

Dr White cited Saïd’s Dean Professor Peter Tufano remarks in the forward to the book. “Despite its title of “Global Business,” the book not only deals with global trends in business, but also their drivers and consequences. It moves freely between macro-forces to details by country, technology, and organizational form. It is an expansive look at the world today, seen through the lens of globalization.” “…(the book) not only enhances our ability to understand the world, but also to help leaders chart the course to our continued collective well-being.”
The launch was followed by the OAMLP’s Award Dinner. In addition to the announcement of the 2018 Outstanding Alumni, the authors were recognized for their achievement.
